Washington Beltway Community Church Leadership

Washington Beltway Community Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Dr. Michael (Mike) A. Donaldson

Senior Pastor

Dr. Michael (Mike) A. Donaldson is the founding pastor of Washington Beltway Community Church, which was launched in 2010 in the Washington, DC, Metropolitan area.

The attributes that best describe Pastor Mike are strong preaching/teaching, leadership development, and counseling. He has expressed a burning desire to lead a church like Washington Beltway Community Church, where biblical views are embraced and encouraged, with members who care about the needs of those around them and who want to connect others to the body of Christ. Pastor Mike believes in empowering all members to participate in the Church, especially in small group ministry, and equipping the parishioners to discover and operate in their giftings. He is the author of Small Groups, Big City: Express Lanes to Church Community.

Pastor Mike is also a facilitator of healing divides in the Church and has dedicated his life and ministry since he was eighteen years old to participating in and leading various ecumenical organizations on the local, national, and international levels.

Mike is working on his second theological doctorate and is a PhD Candidate (ABD) in Global Contextual Theology at Oral Roberts University. He graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2011 with a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) Degree. Mike also earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Wake Forest University (2005)  and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) from Marshall University, where he majored in Accounting, minored in Finance, Economics, and Bible and Religion. For several decades, Mike has worked in a managerial capacity in the corporate accounting/finance sector in multiple industries, servicing small, medium, and Fortune 500 companies, and also functioned as a consultant on various projects across the United States. Pastor Mike is a lifelong learner and a member of several academic professional organizations.

In his ministerial teaching experience, Mike believes in taking complex theological concepts (even those on a master's and doctoral levels) and making them relevant to those with a high school education. Mike finds it very rewarding when he witnesses the lights come on in the eyes of the students, and they engage with each other, while he steps back and watches them. In other words, he sees himself not just as a teacher but as a facilitator for empowering the students. His two favorite courses taught over the decades are How to Study and Understand the Bible and Global Pentecostalism, where only a high school education is necessary to enroll.

Dr. Mike has served in the following capacities in ministry: Founder/President of a recognized campus ministry during his undergraduate education, pastor of two churches, Sunday School teacher, International Youth President, Hospital and Airport Chaplain trained in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), Radio and Television Announcer, Instructor in several Bible Institutes and has facilitated several support groups for those who are Separated/Divorced, Children of Divorce, Single Parents, Grief in the loss of a loved one, and a financially focused educational support group.

Mike has been happily married for fifteen years to his wife, Christy. They have one child, Nicholas, and a Golden Doodle dog named Theo, and they all reside in the Washington, DC, suburbs in Virginia
